The conference brought together policymakers, disability rights advocates, civil society organizations, development partners, and parliamentary representatives to deliberate on the need to strengthen Ghana’s legal framework on disability rights and inclusion.
The discussions focused on accessibility to public infrastructure, inclusive education, employment opportunities, healthcare access, social protection, political participation, and stronger enforcement mechanisms to protect the rights of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).
During his contribution, Frank Asiedu Bekoe reaffirmed his commitment to disability inclusion and social justice in Parliament.
He emphasized the need for the proposed Disability Bill to reflect the real needs and aspirations of Persons with Disabilities and to provide practical solutions to the challenges they face daily.
He also discussed how Parliament can support the smooth passage of the bill into law once Cabinet completes its review processes, stressing the importance of stakeholder engagement, bipartisan support, and continuous advocacy.
The conference formed part of ongoing national efforts to build a more inclusive and equitable Ghana where no citizen is left behind.
