Odwira Festival 2025: Suhum MP calls for stakeholder engagement to end opioid abuse
Hon. Frank Asiedu Bekoe, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Suhum constituency in the Eastern Region, has raised concerns about the growing opioid abuse in Ghana, warning that the country is on the verge of a silent epidemic that threatens its future. Speaking at the 2025 Odwira Festival, Hon. Frank Asiedu Bekoe urged increased stakeholder participation in eradicating the problem. "We must protect our youngsters from opioid and substance abuse. We can solve this by organizing a stakeholders' task force to address these issues," he stated. He emphasized the MP's Health Education Program train, which has already visited places like Osafohene Atiemo, Ayekotse, Nankese, and Newtown, with plans to expand the program throughout all electoral areas.
